Our Board

Over an international career that spanned more than a decade, she accrued three World Championship titles, one Commonwealth Games title and many placings.

On a domestic level, Sharon has six national titles and countless club and Centre titles.

Sharon has also been heavily involved in the administrative side of the sport, having spent time working for Bowls New Zealand, as well as occupying positions on many a bowling committee.

Add to this her commitment to training up-and-coming coaches, as well as her contributions as a coach and a selector to the Bowls New Zealand high performance programme and you have an amazing woman who’s done everything that there is to do in the sport of lawn bowls, and who continues to give back.

I work full time and still play competitively, so there isn’t a lot of spare time in the bowls season. I am absolutely passionate about our game of bowls. What I love the most is the feeling of community which our club environments provide, and how our game allows people to play at whatever level they wish, be it social bowls, a Saturday club roll up or to the top competitive level, whatever your age or stage in life.

I am looking forward to meeting new people and visiting more bowling clubs around New Zealand during my three years as President.

In his professional life, Mark is currently the General Manager of the Lower Hutt After Hours Medical Centre in Wellington, however his background is mainly in sports and not-for-profit administration with senior sporting roles with Wellington Rugby League, New Zealand Rugby League and Swimming New Zealand.

Along with his administrative roles within sport, Mark is or has been President – Whitby Bowling Club, Chair – Bowls Wellington, and Trustee – Wellington High Performance Aquatics and has managed a number of international teams overseas to Oceania, Pan-Pacific and World championships.

Mark has been involved with bowls for over 30 years and has been a member of many clubs including Woolston Park, St Clair, Taihape, Devonport, Plimmerton & Whitby where he currently is a member.

Mark is married with two adult children.

She is an experienced legal and corporate governance professional with over 20 years of experience in New Zealand and the UK. Her expertise spans legal, regulatory, and corporate governance roles, gained at top-tier law firms and in-house positions, with a focus on financial services.

Macayla is currently the Chief Legal Officer at Kiwibank, a role she was appointed to in 2024. She is also a director of GetVerified Limited, having been appointed to the role in April 2025 as Kiwibank’s director. Beyond her legal expertise, Macayla is a strong advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion. As the inaugural chair of Kiwibank’s Women’s Network, she has played a significant role in raising awareness of issues impacting wāhine in the workplace and creating an inclusive culture where everyone can thrive. She also volunteers at the Women’s Prison in Auckland through the Mother’s Project, helping wāhine connect with their tamariki on the outside. For Macayla, it is important to be part of organisations that are truly purpose-driven and align with her own values.

Sport has been a significant part of Macayla’s life since a young age. Nowadays, she spends her weekends watching her three children from the sidelines, especially during the winter months, coming from a football-mad family. In her own time, she is a huge fan of Les Mills’ spin classes, being a lifelong member, and more recently, she has become a fan of Strong Pilates.

Macayla is keen to leverage her professional expertise to shape the future of Bowls New Zealand. She looks forward to collaborating with the leadership team and the bowling community to drive progress, inclusion and innovation in the sport.

He has represented North Harbour, Wellington and now Wairarapa as well as representing NZ in the PBA World singles in the UK.

He has over 40 years senior level experience nationally and internationally in education, accounting and finance, IT leadership, business development and financial planning. He is an experienced director and CEO.

Having spent 12 years living and working in the Middle East, Garry and Rozanna chose to buy a vineyard in Martinborough. Garry jumped back into bowls and decided to ‘give back’ to bowls by getting involved in his local club, Martinborough, chairing the Wairarapa centre Board and also chairing the Board of Naenae Bowling Club. He has also been involved in secondary school bowls development. Stepping up to the Board of Bowls New Zealand is an exciting new role. He is over the moon to be given the opportunity to be part of the future of bowls.

Garry’s philosophy is simple. Work hard, have fun and make a difference.

He is an experienced Non-Executive Director and CEO with over 30 years of global business experience in insurance, healthcare, and financial services. Scott currently holds several key positions, including Independent Chair and Director of Evolution Healthcare, and Independent Non-Executive Director roles at ASX-listed Insurance Australia Group (IAG), IAG New Zealand Ltd, Fidelity Life Assurance Co Ltd, and Kiwibank Ltd. Additionally, he serves as an external advisor to the global management consulting firm Bain & Co and runs his own management and leadership consulting company, Engage Consulting Limited.

From May 2013 to June 2021, Scott was the Chief Executive of the Accident Compensation Corporation (ACC), where he led and delivered the most significant transformation in the corporation's 50-year history.

A self-confessed “sports nut,” Scott has played and participated in multiple sports, including rugby, cricket, and ultra-distance running. He developed a passion for lawn bowls in 2022, playing at the Ōmokoroa Bowling Club in the Bay of Plenty. He has been a member of the BOP Junior Representative team and has competed in the Australian Open and the Matador Fours tournament, where he had the privilege of playing against the World Champion Australian Men's Fours team.

Scott is married to Karen and has four adult children.

Nicola started her career in Human Resources before moving into leading large operations and contact centre teams. She was lucky enough to spend the last five years living in India and Fiji whilst working for ANZ. This experience provided the opportunity to broaden her horizons, learn about and value different cultures and perspectives and also pursue her love for travel and exploring and learning new things.

Nicola is looking forward to using the experiences gained in her professional career to guide the future of Bowls in New Zealand and work alongside the leadership team and bowling community.

Nicola is married to a sports fanatic and has two school-aged boys who are passionate about sports. Most weeknights and weekends are at cricket and football training and cheering from the sidelines.

Over the past nine years, Robyne has held a number of leadership roles at Takapuna Bowling Club, including Secretary (2017–2021), President (2021–2024) and Chair (2024–2026). She also served as a Board Member and Chair of Bowls North Harbour from 2021 to 2024.

Alongside her bowling and governance commitments, Robyne has continued her professional career as part-time General Manager of a consultancy business.

Robyne remains an active and competitive bowler. She represents Takapuna Bowling Club and Bowls North Harbour as a Premier Representative, competes in Summerset National competitions, and at international events including the Lion City Cup in Singapore and the Bowls Victoria Open.

As a Board Member, Robyne is looking forward to contributing her experience, enthusiasm and commitment to innovation, inclusiveness, growth and participation in bowls throughout New Zealand. She is passionate about helping create a welcoming, vibrant and sustainable future for the sport, and looks forward to working with fellow board members, centres, clubs and the wider bowls community.
