New format for the 2027 Champion of Champions

October 8, 2026

The 2027 National Champion of Champions will take place from 21 June to 11 July 2027, with a new programme bringing all nine disciplines together across 18 playing days.

Based at Pukekohe Cosmopolitan Club, Pukekohe, Auckland, the National Champion of Champions will move from nine separate weekends to a concentrated programme. Each discipline will be completed over two consecutive days, with the Men’s events followed by Mixed Pairs and then the Women’s events.

The revised format aims to give players greater certainty for planning, reduce repeated travel for those competing in multiple disciplines, and create a stronger national championship atmosphere.

  • Time limits: Games will have a 2 hour 15 minute time limit.
  • Qualification: remains with each player/team playing four qualifying games, with three wins required to advance to post-section play.
  • Respotted jacks: In all disciplines, a jack killed during play will be respotted on the centre line at the 2-metre mark, allowing the end to continue rather than being replayed.
  • Each Discipline will be completed over 2 days.
  • Finals are expected in either the 4:00pm or 6:30pm session, providing a more accessible window for spectators and broadcast audiences.

The playing schedule is indicative and may vary according to confirmed entries and qualifiers.
