The Hauraki Bowling Club was originally founded as a gathering place for the Mangatarata community, almost incidentally offering lawn bowls as a leisurely respite from the physically demanding work of farming.
80 years on, it still is a hub for the area, although the population is a little more diverse.
Located on the western edge of the Thames Valley Centre region, the club is easy to locate as it is located next to the Hauraki Golf Club and is approximately 10 mins out of Ngatea along State Highway 2, heading north.
All ages and abilities can be catered for from the more serious or competitive to the more casual bowlers, such as our Business House bowlers. Bowls are available for those wanting to have a go and senior members are always willing to help beginners.

Our recent claim to fame is appearing in the ASB advertisement supporting NZ athletes at the Commonwealth Games.
