Palmerston North Bowling Club

Established on December 23, 1889, the Palmerston North Bowling Club is the oldest and largest lawn bowls organisation in the Manawatu region. As one of the few entirely freehold bowling clubs in New Zealand, we welcome the community to our historic Linton Street grounds, a bustling hub.

We have 270+ active members, spanning a wide demographic of full club competitors, social bowlers and casual visitors.

Our bowling club has affiliations with the RSA, Palmy Sports Club (pool club), Palmerston North Cricket Club, and Kia Ora Rugby League Club. We also hold weekly Tai Chi sessions. We are fully licenced premises and have onsite catering.

We have one of the largest memberships of all Manawatu bowling clubs and we cater for bowlers of all ages and abilities.

Other than the traditional club championships, we have a very active social league for players who don’t want to join as full playing members.

Our social league is active throughout the whole year, both during the bowling season and over the winter, with players able to play weekly on Friday afternoons, fortnightly on Saturday afternoons, and at various galas open to social bowlers.

Bowls Palmerston North also has a twilight bowling calendar (business house) which runs over 8 weeks following the Christmas break. We provide development and coaching opportunities for all bowlers with a comprehensive development programme managed by our Development Convenor.

With two premium grass greens and a modern all-weather artificial green, our club operates seamlessly across every season, with a fully licenced bar and onsite catering. Our fully equipped kitchen and bar host corporate events, social functions, and community meetings ranging from 12 to 200 people.
