Waipukurau Bowling Club

Our club was first established in 1908. A small clubhouse was built in the 1920s and an area was developed as a croquet green adjacent to one of the two greens.

The Ladies Bowling Club was opened in the 1950s and operated separately from the Men. The ladies even had to use a different entrance gate to the men.  Thankfully, times have changed.

In the 1980s the facilities were upgraded with boundary fences rebuilt and a greenkeepers shed constructed. The B green was replaced with an all weather surface in 1999 and replaced with a new surface again in 2015. It is Tiger Astro Turf. Our grass green was last reseeded with Maniatoto in July of 2026. Our croquet green adjacent to our grass green allows players paying a full bowls sub to play croquet as well.

We are a very friendly versatile club running housie on a Wednesday night, a 2x4x2 competition every Monday, club roll ups on a Wednesday and Saturday and a Jokers Draw on a Friday night. Functions from outside clubs are held on a regular basis and many organisations use both our greens and clubhouse for their end of year celebrations.  New members are always welcome. All new first year bowlers receive a free membership for their first season and coaching is available to help them get started.
