Whitby Bowling Club

Nestled in the heart of the Whitby community, Whitby Bowling Club is a friendly, progressive club where great bowls and great people come together. Celebrating its 50th Jubilee in 2025, the club has a proud history of serving the Porirua community while continuing to evolve and grow for future generations.

Our club offers quality outdoor bowling facilities, including a natural green that was resurfaced in 2024, and is home to approximately 116 members, with around 70 active bowlers enjoying the sport throughout the season. Entirely volunteer-run, Whitby Bowling Club thrives on the commitment, enthusiasm, and community spirit of its members.

Bowls is at the heart of what we do, but the club is about much more than the game itself. Regular tournaments, community events, Twilight Bowls competitions, and Friday evening social gatherings create opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to connect, learn new skills, and build lasting friendships. Whether you're an experienced player, new to the sport, or simply looking for a welcoming community, you'll find a place here.

Our vision is to be a progressive club at the centre of the Whitby community, celebrating lawn bowls while fostering friendships, developing player skills, encouraging participation, and sharing success both on and off the green. This commitment, together with our strong community focus and support for local businesses, saw Whitby Bowling Club recognised as Bowls Wellington Club of the Year, an achievement we are immensely proud of.

Members consistently describe Whitby as a place with a "friendly atmosphere", "strong first impressions", and a genuine "community feel". We take pride in maintaining our facilities and gardens to a high standard, ensuring the club remains a welcoming place for members, visitors, and the wider community.
